Mills Bible Store began in 1955 by Goldia Mills.  Her mother had been a door-to-door Bible salesman.  When she died, people continued to come to the house seeking Bibles.  Mrs. Mills, quite shy but eager to do the will of the Lord, believed strongly that people needed a place to get good Christian resources.  With no money in the bank, she took a step of faith and opened a small shop just a few blocks from the present location on 34th Street.  Her first day's sale was a 13 cent greeting card!  From that humble beginning came several stores.  Several years later, her husband, John, retired and came to help her manage the store.  Together the Mills read every book before deciding to place them on their shelves.  They took great care to present only that material which they themselves believed was wholesome, scripturally sound and appropriate for their clientele.
